We are thrilled at the new and improved Women's Hospital Birthing Center at Fairfax. The new building is beautiful and very family friendly. It also has several private areas for nursing mothers. Ground floor features a nursing boutique along with a coffee shop and Panera restaurant. For birthing mothers it provides the state of the art care but with wonderful choices for any birth a mother wishes and even includes special VIP upgrades to make the celebration of your birth more special.

The entrance for labor and delivery is located at the green entrance into the ground floor (lobby). Families and visitors park in the green parking lot. The first floor has 13 individual private triage rooms that are spacious to accommodate mother, family member and support team. Upon entering the first floor labor and delivery reception area, one is greeted with a calm soothing atmosphere with touches of nature added into the decor.  One may find a few baby photos but nature is well displayed with blooming blossoms and more to create a zen atmosphere.

The Labor and delivery rooms are quite spacious and provide some magnificent changes from the previous location. The baby's bed and assessment room are in front of the mother's bed so mother can view her new baby. Previously this we over to the side where mother was not able to see anything. You will also notice all health related item,s such as wall oxygen units, are tucked behind dark wood cabinetry. Bathrooms are spacious and will allow mom to have hydrotherapy if she wishes per doctors order. A birth ball can be used in it and there is even room for mother's birthing companion to provide comfort in the shower too.

The labor and delivery unit contains 33 private birthing rooms and mothers who wish to have movement in birth have the option of using a portable telemetry monitor during her labor and birth if doctor's orders allow. Moms are able to bring their own birth balls,  but if you find you need the use of a peanut ball, no need to worry, the nurses have you covered. They have peanut balls for mothers who wish to use them. Not sure what a peanut ball is? Give us a call and we would be happy to share the information about this wonderful tool.

Once mom and baby are settled after birth, the family will then be transferred to the postpartum floor (the fifth floor). The postpartum floor has a spacious waiting area for families to wait in. There are 48 private family centered rooms with two newborn nurseries and also a lactation area for those visiting who need to breastfeed. Mothers also have the option of upgrading to private VIP rooms for extra space and comfort (additional fees apply). Those are provided on a first come, first serve basis. Every family can utilize that option and also every family can choose from other special VIP offerings including a VIP dinner celebration with champagne.
